All summer I have been using my watch in nightstand mode and using the alarm to wake me up. I'm very sensitive to light when I'm trying to sleep, so the watch in nightstand mode is perfect for me - it's dark unless I want to see the time. The alarm sound is great. However, now that it's getting darker earlier (and I'm getting up earlier to get kids ready for school), the pre-alarm display brightness is killing me. I hate it. I don't want to wake up earlier than I have to, and to an annoying bright light in my room.

I've been searching but can't find any evidence that Apple is eliminating or giving the option to turn off this feature in WatchOS7. Is anyone that's running the beta aware of any changes to this functionality? Has anyone found a good solution to this? Is there a third party alarm app that will still allow me to use nightstand mode as is?

Hi, I found this under ‘General’ settings in the Apple Watch app on your connected iPhone. It will switch off bedside mode (and therefore the clock) but it does solve your problem of the screen getting brighter in the minutes leading up to the alarm.

I hope this helps.
