When playing songs on my 30G iPod, the square designated for album art appears but not the art itself, leaving a white square in its place. I've already tried syncing and switching the "display album artwork" box on and off but it doesn't do anything. The software is up to date and the artwork displays perfectly fine in iTunes. It's currently set on manual management; I was thinking somewhere along the line that that might have glitched up?

Maybe try this?

Hi -

In all my years of iPod ownership, I've never had any cover art problems -
until it happened twice in the past month.

My particular problem is that my cover art is "confused": a UB40 song will
have a Kitaro cover, and a Kitaro song will have a cover from Madonna.
You didn't indicate if *any* of your cover art shows up on the iPod, but I'll
assume it does.

On another forum, I saw this tip to re-synchronize album art. Apparently,
the cover art "database" can get out of synch with the songs. So maybe
try this? It only took a few minutes on my 60GB Photo with 8,000 songs.

1. Connect your iPod
2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
3. Sync the iPod with iTunes
4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
5. Sync the iPod again.

Hope this helps . . .

Any album art I get when I use the "get album art" function never transfers over to my ipod. Only the art I add myself from amazon or wherever actually transfers over. Really annoying. I then need to copy and paste it from my library on my mac to my library on my ipod.

That's odd . . .

I've seen similar problems with art that was already in an .mp3 file.
Sometimes, it will show up in the cover flow, but not in the little
window on the lower left.

Like you, I now have a "library" of album cover files. But once I "add
artwork" from that folder to a song, the art always "sticks" with that song,
and will transfer automatically to the iPod on the next sync.

I'm also beginning to believe that this art "stickiness" has something to
do with the version of the ID3 tags. The files I have imported from my
CDs or ones that I have "converted to mp3" inside iTunes have more
current ID3 tags, and the art always stays with the song.

Part of my "continuing education" I guess . . . :)

I am having the problem with cover art on my ipod touch, and was told to do this, but I don't have the "Display Album Artwork" option in iTunes
