Album Art Not Showing Over Bluetooth

I use my iPhone to stream music over bluetooth in my car.Prior to 11, as one track on switch to the next the album art would change to reflect the album art of the next track. Now it's hit or miss whether it updates. Sometimes it does, most times it doesn't. The first track of a playlist or album almost always loads, but subsequent tracks mostly do not. Is this a problem with the firmware of my car (BMW) or is this itunes software bug?

Album art has never worked for me via Bluetooth, when wired via USB yes, but after updating to iOS 11, callers pics now show up via Bluetooth, which they didn't before. By the way I have a 2015 GMC.
