There's a field for typing in the artist, one for the album, and one for.. album artist.

What's the use of this field?

What's the use of this field?

Albums with duets or other collaborations. Greatest Hits compilations that include various bands, etc...

e.g. somethign like Tony Bennett's album where he had Duets with all kinds of people. Tony Bennet would be the album artist, while each some might have "Tony Bennett and k.d. lang" as an artist.

I also just ran into a Best of George Harrison album that contained a bunch of Beatles songs. This way I could use GH as the Album Artist and tag the files individually.

How does the iPod handle Album Artist? This is perfect for a longstanding issue with collaboration songs... lol that we just had a thread about a day or two ago. But only really if the iPod gets it right.
