I purchased some music off itunes store, but I am trying to find the where itunes stores saves the album artwork cover? I can't find it?

Starting with iTunes 7, album artwork goes into ~/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork (if you're using the default music library location).

Unfortunately, the files/folders aren't identifiable by browsing through them. The artwork itself is a JPEG I believe, but it's saved as an ITC file with some extra headers on it. There's probably a way to strip off the headers and get the JPEG out, but I haven't done that.

You might be able to figure out what artwork is where by taking a look at the iTunes XML file and seeing how it links ITC files to songs.

What's wrong with right-clicking on the picture displayed in iTunes? Then copy it to e.g. Photoshop and save it as JPEG?

Nothing...that's an easy way to do it.

But why make it easy when there are ways that are so much harder?

Yeah, I goofed...I remembered that iTunes had changed the way it handles album art, and I got caught up in figuring that out.

I basically wanted a copy of the album art b/c I downloaded the complete album from some where else.

I dragged the album cover art to the desktop and now I have a copy of it.
