Hi guys,
I know this has been asked many many times, but this is my first iPhone ever, and probably the best phone I've ever gotten, so it's like a jewel to me, and it isn't the case of using alcohol wipes over a long period of time to wipe my phone down like the others i've read here. It's only been done to my phone onces, and I've wondered if that one instance had caused my oleophobic coating on the glass to wear off.
My situation was like this.
When I got my phone, I had gotten a screen protector/shield on, one thing I noticed however, was that the person that applied it had used a squirt of alcohol, it wasn't even two or three drops, she literally sprayed it on to the whole cleaning cloth, and wiped my screen down with it, and cleaned certain parts of teh screen with dirt on it. That bugged me abit (at that point of time I didn't even know that there was a Oleophobic coating on the iPhone 4s' screen, guess I should have read up), so a few days later, I read up on the iphone maintaince and what I should and should not do, and discovered she shouldn't have used alcohol at all, cause it'll ruin the Oleophobic coating present.
So my question is, with that much alcohol being used at one go, on a totally new phone, would the coating wear off almost instantly? I understand I might as well not think about it since I have a screen protector on, but it's been bugging me abit, and I won't be able to test it out unless I remove to protector (which I will soon, when I get a chance to switch over to a PowerSupport or a Stenhill Ultra-Optics). Plus where I live, I noticed 3rd party stores that aren't Apple resellers or Network Providers tend to use alcohol to wipe down the screens before applying any screen shields =/, and sadly I ended up at a 3rd party shop (long story).
So in summary, would that much alcohol, at one go, wipe away all the Oleophobic Coating on the Screen?
Thanks guys!
