i'm thrilled that this great group of programmers is keeping marathon alive. as i've used the various builds over the past year, i've noticed that aleph one still has a ways to go to be entirely usable (mostly killing all of the vestigial classic mess). hopefully alephmodular will be a cleaner package and in turn lend it's spruced up code to aleph one.

Am I the only one that thought Marathon sucked? I'm all for open source and stuff, but I think they could have gone with something better, like Halo. :D

i'll assume that you're joking. the aleph one project is seeking to have compatability with all marathon 2 and marathon infinity levels/models/sounds/etc. while adding new features. if you check out the pictures...

you will see that they are adding support for (primative) 3d models and powerful scripting capabilities (features far more advanced than the origional marathon games). by the end, it should be better than the origional games.
