Alert when setting global shortcut?

Happens in Twitter for Mac, and also happens in Sparrow..

Every time there is this preference, I always get an error that says "Alert" with no text.. I want Twitter to be Control-Option-Command T and Sparrow to be Control-Option-Command M, but I can't change the setting. Even when trying more basic shortcuts i get the same error.

Anyone know what is going on? Honestly one of the most annoying things happening on my computer right now.

Fixed. Had something to do with my input language. I typically leave it on Romaji and hop back and forth from Japanese, and this is the only problem it has caused thus far.
