Howdy,

I have managed to install an app called "Alerts", thats it, noting more. It sits there on the right side of the menu bar (the icon is a yellow/orange bell). I have no idea how to get rid of the darned thing, there is no option what so ever to remove it. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Have you found the Alerts application in your Applications folder, or does it live elsewhere? Once you've located it, this is how you go about removing it:
  1. Quit the application first (either by its Quit item in the menulet it installs, or terminating it with Activity Monitor).
  2. Move the application to the Trash.
  3. Log out and back in.

You may also need to clean up your Login Items to keep Mac OS X from trying to start it. This is done in System Preferences.
