Alesis and Garage Band

I have an Alesis QS8.2 synth with MIDI in/out and thru ports. It makes great music, but I can't seem to record the sounds that come out of it using Garage Band 3 in OSX 10.5.8. So far I've tried hooking it up to my MacBook Pro with a MIDI to USB interface with no luck. I'd really appreciate if someone could shed some light on how I can record the sounds from my synthesizer; they're really great. :apple:
 
You will need to use the audio outputs to get any sound into your mac. A midi signal doesn't contain any sound. MIDI
