I am trying to boost my internet capabilities, was told that a wi-fi adapter was the way to go. Alfa got decent reviews and was only $37 so I decided to give it a go.
Problem #1--Came with a mini cd which is useless with a MacBook Pro.
I tried downloading the drivers and install from the manufacturer but I'm getting nowhere. I downloaded the install software: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=36&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true

I also got install guide (here: http://www.alfa.com.tw/in/front/bin/ptlist.phtml?Category=105415). I got to Step13. Plug in RTL8187 USB device and enable it from “Network” of “System Preferences”.

I have no idea how to do that. It appears as though Network should auto-detect the adapter plugged into the USB port, but it does not. Any suggestions? I also downloaded the driver but I'm not sure what to do with it now that it's downloaded.
