I just picked up an Alienware AW3423DW 34" ultra-wide monitor I plan to use for productivity work with my Macbook Pro 16. Any suggestions for the best way to set one of these up when using MacOS? Any good way to control / minimize text fringing?
I get that a non-retina / sub 5k / sub 200-250 pixel density display won't get me perfect display scaling with macOS.
The AW3423DWF is a 3440x1440 ultrawide qd-oled panel with a pixel density of 108 - essentially just a wider 27" 1440p display. Since 27" 1440p panels with a 108 pixel density are common and qd-oled displays have been around for a few years now I was hoping that people could share relevant experiences even if they didn't own an AW3423DWF.
I'm asking for recommendations for the best way to setup up a qd-oled panel with these qualities on macOS.
It depends on the individual monitor but definitely play around with the sharpness setting. I own a LED 38" Alienware curved and it's fantastic. The rest of the settings looked perfect out of the gate, though you can adjust brightness and contract to your liking. I don't recommend scaled resolutions unless you have poor eyesight. Let us know if you have any issues with it, but I didn't need to mess with the color profiles on my non-OLED at all.
