I was wondering if there is a way to arrange the icons on the desktop to a particular edge of the screen. In windows its always the right hand side. I was wondering if you can switch it to the right or the top with a setting or a command.

Thanks!!

You can set it so that the icons will stay (close to) wherever you put them, would that work for you? I have mine set that way...

Right click on the desktop and select "Show View Options".

In the window that comes up, go to Arrange By: and select "Snap To Grid".

Now you can arrange your icons along the top or either side of the screen, and they should stay there (subject to snapping to the grid).

"the reason the icons are where they are is so they don't get hidden under the pull down menus. "

I don't understand that reasoning. Who needs to see the desktop icons for the short time they're using a pulldown menu? "Let's see, click File, look for Print... hey! What icon is hidden by this menu? Where'd that drive icon go?!"

On the other hand, I haven't actually put my desktop icons there, so maybe I'm missing something...
