Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I apologise if this has been asked before but couldn't see a reply to this when I searched.

When I try to shut down, it fails because it says that the application safari, adobe reader, or any other application, has failed to quit. On looking in force quit these applications are not even open! When I try again, it moves onto another application. I have verified the start up disc (as suggested by a search elsewhere) but this is fine fortunately.

Any ideas as to what I can do?

I'm so frustrated by this so any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.
