The topic pretty much explains it. Ever since 10.5.1 (or perhaps 10.5, I haven't tried since the upgrade) I haven't been able to burn any DVD media. When I place several good, blank DVDs into my superdrive (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857) finder tells me that I have entered a blank CD. Disk Utility claims the same thing and all 3rd party applications recognize it as a CD as well.

Anyone else having problems with Leopard in this way or is it more likely that I'm looking at a superdrive on its way out?

If you need anything else, just ask. :)

oops, and yes, all user accounts. to be sure i created a new test account which had the same problem

Appreciate the help. Basically I think we've exhausted everything short of a hardware repair so I suppose it is time for that. Thank you for your input.
