All events on ical gone - Jan 1st

If you page back in time through iCal, are the old events still there? If so, just edit them and reset the repeating part.
iCal events don't disappear on their own because the date changed. Somebody deleted them, whether on purpose or accidently.
I have a similar problem.
My iCal is set to not hide or remove any past event regardless of the time that has passed since the event. However when I look back on my calendar to November all my Work and Event calendars have disappeared, and not just November. Anything in those calendars previous to this current month has gone.
I haven't deleted them, nobody else has access to my laptop.
