Why does iPhone X cost so much more than a regular iPhone like the 7 and 8? They say it is the future but all I see is a bigger screen. The increase in CPU performance is normal for all new technology so no biggie there.

I can see a lot of expenses caused by researching and developing Face ID but the only reason for Face ID is because there is no room for a Home button.

I just don't get why this costs $1000 while an iPhone 8 costs $700?

do you not think 2 more hours battery life is not a big deal? Think about that spread out over a day or two. Pretty big to me.
Wireless charging ehh. thats just filler
The cameras are a real big upgrade front and back. Stainless steel band is a nice upgrade too with a better looking phone imo because of it and the option for black front glass with silver back.
Other than that and the screen yes not a HUGE difference but its there

More specifically, 2 more hours of battery life in a size not much larger than the 7/8.

Front cameras and all the research and coding necessary for FaceID.

2 hours battery is a big deal. My point is that whenever a new iPhone is released, you'll always see improvements in battery, power, features, etc.

When iPhone 5 was released, it was loads better than iPhone 4S. But it was still $650.

I don't get why the newest iPhone (which by definition should have the newest technology) doesn't have the same $700 or $800 price tag as the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus? The iPhone X is the best iPhone yet but I feel like they just priced it at $1000 because they know they can get away with it.

name one phone in the last 5 years that had battery increase by that much? Seems like I've only gotten bad battery life since iPhone 5 for some reason. 6+ ehh. 7+ double eeehh
Also, size and seal difference is pretty huge to me. The + models are hard to handle. I've coped for 3 years now with them and would love something with better feel instead of a huge brick with a smaller screen to body ratio

Because the $700 and $800 price point is for the iPhone 8/8 Plus.

The X is tomorrow's phone, today. This time next year it'll be $700-$800.

You are paying for the large oled screen, the bevvy of sensors and software integration at the front, the better front facing camera and the dual OIS cameras at the back. You should also be comparing it to the 8+ which is $800. So $200 more for the above. Honestly, I think the 8 is worse value. I think part of the reason the 8 costs so much is because they wanted to make the $1000 price tag of the X easier to justify when you compare the two.

I think there is a lot more technology incorporated into the iPhone X. And then factor the OLED display panel likely cost more and the materials. And to be honest, we don't fully understand every single component on the iPhone X and what it cost overall, versus what Apple is initially making for a profit.

I also see a bezel free display which makes the device much nicer to hold while also having a bigger display than the plus models. I also see a much better and efficient Oled display. :D

Not sure why everyone keeps quoting "2 more hours". The specs on the Apple website say "up to" 2 more hours and web browsing time for the X is identical to the 7 (non-plus) at 12 hours. I don't think the X is going to have better real-world battery life than the non-plus 7/8 with the way most people use their phones these days. Yes, if you spend a lot of time talking on the phone, you'll see an improvement with the X.
