Dec 4th - Dec 11th

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/tec...ff-iphone-4-125-off-with-trade-in-of-3gs.html

RadioShack is trying to stand out from the holiday bargain pack by offering some pretty steep discounts on Apple's iPhone 4.

Starting tomorrow, Dec. 4th, the electronics retailer will be offering $50 off the iPhone 4 — that would make it $150 for the 16 gigabyte model and $250 for the 32 GB.

But even more surprising are RadioShack's trade-in offers: in addition to the $50 dollar discount, anyone bringing in an undamaged older iPhone 3G gets a $75 credit toward a new phone, and users turning in a 3GS can take $125 off.

That means if you trade in your 3GS ($125) and add the $50 discount, you can get a new 16Gb iPhone 4 for $25 instead of $199.

The deal is available in RadioShack stores only — not via their website — and you need to use their Eligibility Check mechanism to see if you qualify (depends on where you are in your current contract with AT&T).

If anyone's interested, you can also buy a new iPhone 3GS for $50, without a trade-in.

This is an extension of RadioShack's Trade & Save program, which goes year-round and allows consumers to trade in a wide variety of phones in exchange for credit on newer devices. Generally for that program, the value of your trade-in is based on the condition of the phone, and you get less the more scratches, dents and scuffs the phone has.

All trade-ins get refurbished and re-sold in the U.S., RadioShack said.

But in this case, RadioShack is giving a little more leeway on the condition of your trade-in. In essence, it has to be working and can't have a broken screen.

Wow, that's an incredible deal. Can't believe this hasn't been publicized more.

Damn ,and i am only 2 weeks from upgrading. Think att will move my upgrade eligibility up 2 weeks......(nope) just tried oh well

I read this online last night and decided to try it out this morning. I've held onto my 3GS until now because of all the early reports of issues with the 4.

I got to RadioShack when they opened and they had just gotten the announcement about the discount. They looked over my 3GS and gave me a $125 trade-in for it despite having a few scratches and cracks on the plastic housing. With the $50 discount, I only paid $26.65 for the 16GB iPhone 4. Even the employees couldn't believe it.

ETA: If you have your original iPhone 3GS box and you want to do a trade-in, take the box with you! They looked my phone over for 15 minutes because nowhere on the outside of the plastic casing does it say 3GS, and they tried telling me it was only a 3G. They eventually came around when I pointed out that it had a video camera.

The 3GS also has silver lettering on the back instead of the grey of the 3G, so that's a way to tell without even turning the phone on.

Well I got them to move my updrade up back in August. I had a damaged phone that I needed replaced though warranty and they sent me one that was broken. So I complained enough to where they went ahead and let me upgrade to the I4.

do you need to bring the charger and usb cord with you to radio shack when planning to trade-in?

Ya this is as good of a deal as ull ever get for an iPhone.

iPhone 3GS can be sold for 200-300 dollars easily on ebay. I don't see why anyone would trade their old phones in unless they hate ebay or craiglist. Personally, I would sell my old iphone on ebay and buy it from radio shack.

Exactly. Unless someone is looking for instant gratification without any hassle. I'd opt for selling it on ebay and making some of my money back.

That's what I am doing:D

For anyone who doesn't want to fight the trouble, I will gladly buy there iPhone for $25 more than RadioShack would give them, and take care of the hassles.

did you reset the phone through itunes before going into radio shack or did you do it through the settings menu while you were there?

just got back from radio shack. turned in my 16gb iphone 3g for a 16gb iphone 4. total paid: $80.66. i erased the phone while i was there. only took about 15 minutes to wipe it. thanks for tip about this sale!

Damn, been going back on forth on this. I thought I could have the willpower to hold onto my 3GS until next July, but this deal intrigues me.

What do you guys think, is it worth it to hold off until July or to get from RS now? The driving force to get now would be the camera and video cam on the iPhone 4. I have an HD camcorder to take vids of my toddler son, but we don't bring it everywhere, and often its out of battery power.

Hmmm....what to do.

Get it now, then hope AT&T/Apple gives everyone that bought the iPhone 4 in 2010 full upgrades in 2011 like they did this year.

If that happens, then trade back in your iPhone 4 in July next year for the iPhone 5.

iPhone launch this year, we gave $200 for 3Gs'. We had people getting iPhone 4's for nothing but their 3Gs'. I don't see why we wouldn't do the same deal next year.

My store almost sold out yesterday, and im sure we will today, so i would get on this deal quick.

My question would be this....

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a new iPhone 4 at the Apple store in Dallas. Seeing as how it's within the 30 day return window, can I return my purchase and then take advantage of the Radio Shack deal?

I don't think you'll be "upgrade eligible" for a couple months, so probably not.
