iPhone 15 Pro Max All (?) iPhones spontaneously rebooted last night?

So my iPhone 15 Pro Max with iOS 17.0.3 spontaneously rebooted last night (10. October around 01:00 AM CET). The same happened to 3 of my friends with the same iPhone and same iOS, and to someone else with an iPhone 13 Mini, also on the same iOS.

I can't find anything in the crash logs. Anyone else?

Was Software Update set to automatic? I turned off mine to avoid that sort of thing.

If there was a consumer-friendly way to schedule Software Update to schedule updating to 30 days after release I'd do that.

No, it's always off on mine (and also for the other 4 people who experienced the same). And we are all on 17.0.3 already.

My iPhone 14 Pro has been spontaneously rebooting since iOS 16.0.1. Check your diagnostic logs, and more likely than not there was a "System Memory Reset" at the exact time your phone restarted itself. It apparently does it when RAM has less than 70% reclaimable. It doesn't matter if I go to bed with all my apps closed or all my apps open, it will still eventually reset. It does not happen every night but 3-4 times a week.

I've seen this on my 14 Pro three times in the last week (once on 17.0.2, twice on 17.1 b2). Looks like an overly-aggressive memory management process to me, possibly paired with apps and background processes with poor memory management.

Yes quite a few over at Reddit have noticed their phone has a gap in the charging graph while being charged overnight.
My wife’s 14 Pro Max did as she noticed she had to enter her Sim pin this morning, checked her battery graph and yeah the same thing.
My 15 Pro Max didn’t reboot.
The only thing I can think of why mine didn’t was because I’m using 80% Limit as opposed to Optimised Charging.

iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 17.0.3 here. Also seemingly powered down and had to enter passcode this morning.

I was wondering the same thing! Anybody know what happened?
 
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone X did not reboot.

Hope no one miss any emergency calls and texts? With so many phones down for hours, probably bound to have happened. So hope not many people got hurt, fired, or died because of Apple.

Same. I happened to be awake and witness it. My updates are set to download only. I looked over because it had been sitting in standby on my night stand when my attention was drawn to the startup sound I have enabled and the white Apple logo on my 14 Pro Max. iOS 17 Developer beta current.
 
I have the same gap in my charging. Either it rebooted or the system paused the charging to maintain battery health/optimization.

Anyone who is still on iOS 17.0, 17.0.1, 17.0.2 but still had their iPhone reboot simultaneously? My iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max are both on iOS 16.7
 
No reboot here, 13 mini iOS 17.0.3. I use Shortcuts to put it in low power mode overnight between 11 PM and 7 AM. No charging overnight. Automatic updates on, both iOS and apps.
 
No reboots. No charging gaps.

- 11 Pro Max, iOS 17.0.3

- iPad 6th Gen, iOS 17.0.

Note that my iPad is the inverse of my phones. It comes OFF charger at night, is used for two hours or so and then sits off charger for a few hours. Goes back ON charger in the morning and stays there all day.

All my other iPhones are on iOS 15 or below. No reboots.
