All My Files in Finder - doesnt show new documents

am I not understanding what this does because I just created a new document and saved it to my documents folder. I have already accessed it a few times since yesterday and I never see it in the All My Files section on Finder. Should it show up there.

What does All My Files do exactly and how do I add items to it.

has anyone able to find clarification for this yet, I just want to make sure that there is nothing wrong here.

All My Files seemed to work for me yesterday, showing all new modified files when that arrangement was selected. However, today it doesn't show any new ones, only those from yesterday and past. It appears to be opening a saved canned search instead of searching new. If I add a unique extension into the search field, it shows todays files with that extension, under the Today heading, but without that in the search field, it only shows yesterdays
