All my friends with Blackberrys...

currently have an outage of some sort. They're not sure when their system will be back up. Anyone out there experiencing the same outage. My iPhone is working fine.

This is normal for Blackberry, it seems like they have an outage about once or twice per year. It is Blackberry specific and shouldn't have any impact on other phones.

The outage is with RIIM. Usually it throws the entire professional world for a giant loop whereby executives all over and ******** their pants. I for one found it odd when I hadn't received an e-mail after 4:01 p.m. PST today. Usually between 4 & 5 I receive 10+ e-mails with someone frantically looking for anyone working past 4 p.m. I am glad to have the break from the crackberry.

Presumably, businesses are resorting to antiquated communications techniques like smoke signals, courier pigeons or phone calls to get in touch with employees on the road or after hours.

It's just email not working for a few hours.

Same thing happens to AT&T's network sometimes.
