On my iphone 5.. I haven't done anything, I just went to check and they've ALL gone..

Is iCloud contacts on or off? Try a hard reset. Hold home button and home button simultaneously until apple logo shows up. Nothing gets deleted.

I've checked on my iMac and my contacts are still there - I tried to restore from backup but nothing changed.

iCloud contacts are on!

iPhone 5 is under warranty. Contact Apple for support.

Will have to... this happened randomly today - no idea what's gone on here..

And they're all back..I don't know why or how.. I didn't do anythign!

I'd still contact Apple. They will record your experience at a minimum, and if there is some known issue then you'll be very glad you called.
