all of my buddies in adium appear to be away, and MSN can't sign in

The Library.
iChat mysteriously can connect and see who's online, but has also had problems recently. what can I do?
EDIT: I logged out and then back in. I can sign in to Messenger, but all of my contacts still appear to be offline, which is sort of fishy...
