all of my devices (iPhone iPad Macbook) suddenly can't download school files properly

When I try to download necessary things for school, the phone and iPad download files as zip files that cannot be opened and if I do open them it's a thumbnail of the file and not the actual file. on the Macbook it downloads as a file that contains the thumbnail. This has all started occurring just a few weeks ago with the exact same types of files (.docx, .pdf) that I have been downloading for a while. Now I have to use someone else's device or the school computer to download files (other people's iPhones are not having this issue).
