Hi,

I have a mid 2009 15" Macbook Pro and it is not well. Here are the symptoms and I am hoping someone can point me to a solution.

It won't shutdown without holding the power button. Apple/shutdown just restarts
It doesn't recognize that it has a camera or bluetooth
The fan is erratic
I can't change the keyboard lighting with the function keys

Here is what I have done. I put in another hard drive and did a fresh OS install and it made no difference. I removed the logic board and checked/cleaned all of the connections. This also made no difference.

I would replace the logic board if I was confident that was the problem but I am not. Can anyone give me an opinion? Maybe recommend a good third party repair company that is reasonable?

Sorry I forgot to mention

I have already tried the PRAM reset. I also did an SMC reset with no effect.

Did you buy this new or used? Any warranty? Sounds like (I hate to say it) liquid damage maybe. I am hoping it's not though.

Bought it new

I have had this Mac since new. If it is water damage what fixes it? Logic board? It works fine except for the issues I have stated. I'm typing on it now.
