Ever since I got my series 3 Apple Watch I noticed that when I start a workout such as outdoor walk, all the workouts in the workout app on the watch say “Open Goal” Unser the name of the workout type and the workouts are all green in color. On my previous series 2 I don’t recall the workouts saying “Open goal” and the workouts such as Outdoor walk were pink in color, the only workouts that was green was the “Other” Workout. I set up my series 3 watch as new so it’s not a case of a bad backup restored or something of that sort

Set your goals by tapping the small inset circle with the three dots inside rather than the main goal. This will give you access to setting something relevant to the exercise type that you are starting.

Also it may be that you altered something in the workout settings for the previous Apple watch - you can adjust metrics that are displayed etc. through the phone app under 'Workout' on the main screen and you may have done this for your previous watch..?

Visuals for what iamasmith explained above.

Thank you guys, I changed it back to “Calories” which is what I always had it set to on my series 2 hence why my outdoor workouts have been pink,

I have a question now, since all the Outdoor walk workouts I done till this day ever since I got my series 3 Watch (1 week ago) were done With the “Outdoor Walk - Open” combination rather than the proper “Outdoor Walk - Calories” combination, does it mean that these Outdoor workouts with the green “Open” combination were not counted for as proper workouts with proper numbers etc?

Nah. The data will be the same. It's just the goal type you're setting. You normally have a goal measured in calories. Other people might have a goal measured in time.

Either way, the workout will generate the same results, at least as far as the AW is consistent
