Hi,
I've got a new late 2008 macbook and I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to test something for me :
I've been having issues with my iSight that sometimes, it just doesn't show anymore in photobooth and everything else. To fix it, I have to reset the SMC (removing battery, holding power, etc..)
I've called Apple about it and they made me do a few stuff (holding keys while booting and all) and it didn't happen again for so long.
Until I plugged a USB drive into my macbook (go figure).
The issue I have is described in this post on this forum :
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/595415/
Also, the issue is described in a few threads at Apple Support Forums.
So, would someone try on a new alluminium macbook, plugging in a USB drive, eject it, remove it, then check if iSight is still working?
This will give me more information as if it's a general problem or if it's me only. (I think this is a kernel related bug, there is a few messages signaling errors in 'dmesg' (I'm used to unix stuff) so this might be a software bug we all have.)
Otherwise, my SMC is screwed and I'll need to get it replaced (which I don't want).
Thanks.
