Brand new 2.53 MBP. Once in the last few weeks the drive went a bit wierd during an itunes import and made really quite loud noises that resembled the cd scraping against something internally. alarming as it was there wasnt a lot i could do other than force quit itunes an eject it. the cd looked alright and its not like it was a CDR or anything.
That hasn't happened since in itunes but the same loud scraping noise returns while i'm importing audio into pro tools. usually as the disc is spinning down.
as i write this audio import in protools has dropped to a snails pace reading from the drive. restart and different cd, no difference.
i think its dying, im going to contact apple as this surely isnt right.
any experiance with this?
