I recently heard a 'rumor' that AT&T was offering an upgrade special if you had recently purchased an iPhone (3G) and new contract from AT&T from the period of early May 2010. As a first time buyer/user of the iPhone, I went into AT&T today to make that inquiry and hopefully take that advantage - to upgrade to the iPhone 4 at a discounted price.

The date, for the special offer I found out, was from May 7th (purchase and contract) to simply qualify. Well my contract was written on May 6th - and even with my best sly smile, "come on, please" - the manager said "no, and's, if's, or buts".

I was hoping - but it didn't happen. Any wiggle room here that any one might know about?

why did you buy the older version of the iPhone if you wer planning on upgrading 6 weeks later?

Wasn't really considering the upgrade or the new iphone until the 'rumor' was offered.

I was unhappy over at T-Mobile, and just on impulse, decided to look at AT&T's offerings. Fell in love with the iPhone at first sight - then a good deal on the 3G was being offered - so I made the jump - I admit now, without doing the needed research on the upcoming 4G. But, I'm happy with my 3G.

Like everyone else, I could of/would of been seduced into the 4.
