Alone in the Dark

So am I the only one who is alone in the dark? My pre-ordered game arrived a day early

I've been playing this for a couple of hours today. Controls are a bit 'finicky' but once you get the hand its not too bad.

Graphically it's impressive (360 version) and the audio is great.

The story is fantastic so far and I love the episode presentation. It works really well.

I've read some bad stuff about it but right now I'm jonesing for a survival horror game...I might give it a go.

Its controls do leave a lot to be desired at time, often feeling clumsy.

Some levels have bad glitches, strangely so far just first couple suffer from my own experience (zombie thing getting stuck in a wall, big polygon texture glitching outside building when aid4 credit came up) and driving level is painful.

What's bad is that these are beggining levels so first impressions are not so good. Thankfully it gets its act together later on at least.

A good survival horror with some real innovation in the genre slighlty let down by clumsy implementation.

Its looking like a 7.5/8 out of ten so far.

Hopefully ps3 version which is due much later in the year might benefit from the extra development time and nail these glitches in this version.

I absolutely loved the very first Alone in the Dark. I played all 3.

How is this game compared to its predecessors?

It compare favorably IMHO. They have made changes to the franchise which could isolate die hards but for most they have made changes for the better overall.

Its not going to steal RE4 crown, or SH3's bloody warped tiara - but its a solid survival horror / action adventure now. And the consoles are lacking in them at the moment.

Hopefully those changes involved controls. The first one with a keyboard was awful, but then again, that's probably why it actually scared me, since my movement was so hampered.

I would like to get the Wii version, the controls from the video look good, but they could have gone terribly wrong. It was developed by their budget PS2 team and visually it looks the part, but since they delayed the PS2 release, maybe that's a good thing. I'll just have to suffer poor visuals, but I'm used to it.

It's on my list. I would buy it now, but already bought this.

I would really like to get this game but for $60..... I'll wait until it goes to the b.bin which shouldn't be too long or just wait for the PS3 version. I hope they get the kinks out with that version.
