For some reason, my Finder windows aren't displaying file and folder names in alphabetical order any more. The following files are sorted by 'Date Modified' but would always display alphabetically for the given day. Now, as you can see:

Name.Problem.jpg

These are sorted by name order only:

As you can see, '[ST]' should display at the top of a list, then alphabetical order thereafter, but this simply isn't the case... Also, Files that differ only by number (Show.S01E01, Show.S01E02, etc) also don't sort numerically. I've tried logging in and out, restarting, makes no difference...

I also have 'Keep folders on top > In windows when sorting by name' selected, and that isn't working either: folders are just randomly scattered throughout the file list...

Changing view (columns, list, icons) makes no difference.

Have I inadvertently tripped a setting somewhere..?

There's two "sort" options, Sort By and Group By. CMD-J to open up the View Options window, set the Sort By to name and leave the Group By to date.

Unfortunately Sequoia has a problem where it repeatedly forgets folder view settings. Report it to Apple.
