I recently purchased Altec Lansing XT1 USB powered speakers (no other electrical input needed) to use with my laptop during presentations. The speakers look great and are very portable because of their small size. Unfortunately, they produce less sound than my 12" G4 1.33 Power Book does by itself. The diminished output renders them fairly useless.

Did I goof on the purchase of USB powered speakers, or does anyone know if there is some way to get more sound out of them?

Thanks in advance.

IMO, the USB power output on laptops (powerbooks specifically, because that what I have the most experience with) is simply worthless. So your USB powered speakers barely work because (I'm guessing) they don't get enough power. The solution? MAYBE a powered USB hub will work, but I don't think so. Otherwise, take 'em back. Maybe someone else will have another idea.
