Just looking at options for charging as I was considering picking up another (spare) power supply for the 2015 12" Retina Macbook. Unfortunately realised (in the UK) it costs £39 for the adapter itself and another £20-25 for a USB-C charging cable.

Has anyone found any workable alternatives for AC charging (I'm not looking for a portable 'battery' charger)?

Google makes a 60W one that should work with the rMB. It costs $60 including the cable.

A Genuine iPad charger and Chinese usb-a to usb-c cable works.
it's slow though.

it'll cost you less than $10 if you already happen to have an iPad.

Can confirm this. I've charged the rMB with a 10W iPad charger and a cheap eBay USB a to USB c cable and it worked, just slowly. Expect roughly 4 hours for a full charge.
