So I seem to be having issues with fullscreens and an alternate display.
Basically my goal is to throw up a fullscreen display on the alternate display while I work with multiple fullscreen windows on my main display.

For example. I want to have VLC open on an alternate display playing my media of choice while I use my main display as normal.
I'm having several issues though, the first is that if I drag VLC over to the alternate display and fullscreen it, then it makes my desktop on my main display black.

The second major issue is that when I switch between full screens on my main display, for example, from my desktop, to chrome, to my mail application, it makes the alternate display change to a screen with just lines on it.

Is that just the way it works? Is there a way I can get around this?

tl;dr I want a static alternate display while I switch between full screen applications on my main display. How do I do this?
