Having battled all morning with various cables and chargers etc in protest against buying Apple's USB-C to Lightning cable I tried various methods of getting the iPhone to quick-charge.

Initially I tried my Anker IQ charger with the wireless charger and micro-usb - no luck

Next, I tried the same Anker IQ charger but this time used a USB C to USB adapter with the micro-usb cable into the Anker Wireless charger, again the phone was only charging at c. 3.3 watts

At this point I switched the cable over to my 87W MacBook Pro 15 charger block (which Apple recommends for fast-charging iPhone X but unfortunately it still didn't give enough power.

Now using the Anker Lightning cable with the Anker block is providing 6.75 watts of charging power to the phone, this has resulted in a temperature spike of only 2 degrees Celsius to the battery, which seems fine to me!

You could hook up a million watt power supply the the wireless charger and it will only draw what it's designed to.
