I absolutely DESPISE the Magic Mouse (both 1 and 2). The Magic Mouse 2 is absolutely horrible. In CADD programs, when you zoom in or out where you want to be, the dam thing will suddenly either zoom in or out on its own or move the entire window! Absolutely infuriating!

I had this same problem with the original Magic Mouse (I dumped that thing) and since the Magic Mouse 2 comes with the new Mac Pro, I've been using it. (BTW, who's the idiot at Apple who decided to put the connection for re-charging the mouse ON THE BOTTOM of the mouse so you CAN'T use it until it's re-charged?)

Has anyone found a better alternative to this thing on the Mac Pro?

Um... pretty much any USB or Bluetooth mouse will work. You've got about half a gazillion to pick from.
Now, if you're looking for recommendations you'll need to be more clear. What exactly is it that you're looking for? Plenty of buttons? Simplicity? Touch interface? Big? Small? White? Black? Pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows?

I’m using the Logitech g pro wireless, very minimalistic mouse designed for gaming but excellent for regular use as well.
I have the 2019 Mac Pro.

Give BetterTouchTool a try. Its a highly customizable software for Magic Mouse and various other input methods for your Mac. It will turn the Magic Mouse into multi-gesture surface. Perhaps, its a software that might solve your problem.

I know I'm late to this party. Couldn't resist!

I found the Magic Mouse 2 inconsistent and frustrating.

Switched to Logitech MX Master 3 and never looked back. Recommended!

The only alternative worth considering. I second this recommendation.

Like all computer input devices, the choice of mouse is pretty user specific and much of it related to ergonomics and personal comfort. What feels great in one person's hand might be wretched in someone else's hand. Like the Magic Mouse 2.

Having owned computers for over a quarter century, I have tried a bunch of mice. Some have been quickly thrown into the closet, others are used for years until they die.

Logitech B100 corded mouse: when I bought it, it was $9. It replaced a similar Logitech Mouseman in the same price range but likely 10-12 years old. I use this at home on an Acer Swift ultrabook because I hate notebook trackpads.

Kensington PocketMouse Pro: this long-discontinued mouse is at least fifteen years old. It's small and it has a retractable USB-A cord that disappears into a closable hatch on the bottom of the mouse. Since I no longer use Apple notebook computers, it has returned as my favorite travel mouse.

Sanwa trackball: I have both the wired and Bluetooth wireless version, both connected to Windows PCs. They are credible replacements for my beloved Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel trackballs. The Logitech are fifteen years old and don't work consistently. Sanwa is a Japanese brand with a good, long-standing household reputation but their consumer products aren't marketed in the USA.

Apple Magic Trackpad 2: connected to my Mac mini 2018 in wired mode, replaced the original Magic Trackpad which worked with my Mac mini 2010. Overpriced yet works great. Once in a blue moon, I might use a wired trackball or mouse as a secondary input device with the Mac mini's Magic Trackpad.

Wacom Intuos digitizing tablet: I almost forgot that I have one of these. Someday Wacom will abandon driver support for this specific model and it'll end up in the e-waste recycling pile. Or I could boot from an external Mojave drive and use it until a hardware failure.

So there are a bunch of options. They work for me in different situations and I'd be surprised if anyone here uses two of the four listed. That's how specific mouse selection is.

Duff-Man says...I've not tried it and it looks useful, but $10 per month to use it? No way Jose...it's a mouse or trackpad software, paying that is absurd. $10 for unlimited time license and I'm maybe in, but as is just a total non-starter....oh yeah!
