Is there a cheaper way to get a USB Hard Drive on network for backup with Time Machine? I mean there is no USB or FireWire in Time Capsule. It will take like forever to restore my mac if it crashes.

You can't boot off of Time Capsule nor use it in Target Disk Mode, but once you have the base OS installed on your Mac, connecting it to the Time Capsule via Gigabit Ethernet will allow much faster data transfer then via USB or FW.

Connecting via Ethernet would be a solution. But are you sure that Ethernet data transfer is faster than via USB2 or FireWire400?
