Hey Folks,

I wonder if I can find a better music player for my Mac.

My digital library is 110,000+ songs (over 915 GB).

I find the Apple Music player buggy and especially the search slow and sloppy. Back in the day my iTunes experience was way better -- song view, sort by title / artist / album / date added / ....

Any suggestions of a more elegant, more dependable music player that would still work with my library and mimic my old experience?

(I'm not sure this forum is the best place to ask the question -- if you have a better place please let me know.)

Thanks

There's a thread here with discussion of various options.

I've tried a few of them, including Swinsian, and never really took to any.

If you want an solution that mimics your old experience, have you considered just using iTunes? I continue to run version 10.7 on my M4 Mini (running Sequoia), and other than an error message when you first launch it works great for playing your own offline files (no good for streaming, iTunes Match or the iTunes store). Versions 11.4 and 12.6.5.3 also work. This thread has discussion and the necessary install scripts written by @bogdanw :

iTunes on Apple silicon

Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose.

Oh that sounds interesting. I didn't realize I could still get / use iTunes. I will check it out for sure.

Thanks M
