Alu MB Battery Load Cycles...

I wanted to start this random thread to see how different people charge their new Alu MB's, whether you unplug it and use it on battery most of the time, or just keep it plugged in.
So please post (I included in parenthesis the widgets/apps i use to get this info):
- how long you've owned your Alu MB
- the number of battery cycles (charges) you have so far (iStat Pro widget)
- the longest charge you've had on your battery (iStat Pro widget)
- maximum battery charge when your laptop is fully charged (coconutBattery App)

Here are mine:
- 3 weeks;
- 19 cycles
- 5h05m
-4175 mAh

i used it for the whole time...that was probably the 3rd or 4th time i drained it fully...right now actually is gonna be even closer to 6 hours...

wow, i didnt expect my battery to be this good lol

That's awesome! I just drained mine and the maximum charge went up from 4175 to 4214 !! Even though i haven't timed mine before all the way , i am very impressed... coming from my Toshiba Satelite with 1.6 hours of battery life :) I'm gonna try to let it fully charge then use it tonight and see how much i get out of it!

Had it for just over two weeks. Still haven't timed it properly but seem to get a bit over 4 hours constant use. currently telling me i have 3 hours 30 min left

I haven't timed it yet. I always start that process late at night and I get tired of waiting for it to run out. Also the time remaining fluctuates... it looks like I make have only an hour left and then it bumps itself up to over 2. I always get tired and go to bed. Next time I drain it, I'll start early and find out the official time, but I know it's long. It seems like it will give me an hour or more than my BlackBook.

Only 5 cycles?!? how in the world?! I guess I just use my laptop more than others :D

Managed a whole 6 hours on a flight from Chicago.... :D:cool:

Granted that was with no Wi-Fi or bluetooth and the screen was at the lowest brightness (even that was hurting my eyes)....

i'm getting around 4.5hrs with the wifi and transmission running always.
 
i have fun question for everyone here, what was the maximum time that the computer has CLAIMED in the battery indicator on the menu bar? and under what settings?

mine was just now, 7:39 remaining :eek: and that was with wifi on, brightness at 25%, BT off...i was pretty surprised, but off course that went away really fast...now it says 5:30 lol...oh still going up now its at 5:40 lol
 
I don't understand this at all because my battery capacity is 4251 and I have 11 load cycles but when I unplug it I only can have 2:45 if fully charged with brightness at max and wifi on. I know those are draining things but 2:45?! Even if I turn down the brightness to one notch the battery still doesn't go above 3:45. What is happening here? Defective battery?

well what do you usually do with your computer? thats really what determines how long your battery will last

At any one time I have mail, firefox, itunes, vmware, ichat, preview, ical, and address book open. However, when I first got the mac I was getting 5 hours or more and now its only been 3 weeks or so and 11 cycles and my time has dropped by 1.5-2 hours for the most part using the computer for the exact same tasks.

you got your laptop to last 5 hours with all that stuff running? thats interesting...i would understand 2 hours youre getting now since you have all that running...are you sure you were running all that stuff at the same time when you first got 5 hours?

Yes, because it's the same stuff I'm always running. When I start up my computer I open up all those programs so I know that I was doing that 2 weeks ago as well when I was getting 5 hours.

The difference is I work from home and I have an electric outlet within reach everywhere, even on my patio. I don't work from a desk exclusively, I am all over the place... just not on the battery only. Either I read or was told to calibrate the battery about once a month... so unless I'm flying somewhere (haven't gone out-of-town in the last 3 wks) I don't need to be on battery only. Even the Starbucks I frequent has a lot of accessible outlets.
