I am debating to save the money by buying a refurb'd White iMac 24" or buying a new 24" iMac. What is the big gain on buying a new model? I dont mind the glossy or matte screen, doesnt phase me. I am more interested in graphics performance and just overall advantage to either iMac.

I save about $200-300 on a refurb white iMac vs a new Alum. one

Not worth that sort of savings. The Alu uses Santa Rosa, the other doesn't and is over 1 yr old tech.

I guess that all depends what you are using the iMac for. By graphics performance do you mean games? Or more on the line of Adobe programs?

Remember that you can only max out 3 gigs of ram in the white iMacs, and 4 in the new ones, along with different processor speeds. I think the video cards obviously are better in the newer ones.

DO NOT get the refurbished iMac. If you want to save money, get the 20" iMac. It's just not worth the savings to get a slower processor, less RAM, worse video card.
