Hi,

I was looking at my Utilities folder inside the Applications folder a couple of minutes ago and noticed two apps: "Aluminium Keyboard Firmware Update.app" and "Bluetooth Firmware Update.app". AFAIK they've been there since Day One and I haven't touched them since then either. My question is this: do I still need these apps or can I delete them?

FYI 'm using a wired Apple USB keyboard sans numeric pad and a Magic Mouse too.

Cheers in advance. :)

Im not sure what size they are, but is's probably not worth deleting them. They are not doing any harm there.

Finally! Thanks for your reply! :)

They're 1.9MB and 3.8MB respectively.

Sure they're only a couple of MBs but I don't want to delete something that may be integral.

Does anyone have/had these apps too?

I imagine that if there was an update for them, through Software Update, that Apple would distribute a replacement .app file should you no longer have them. Or if they don't I'm sure a friend or forum-goer could send you them.

I don't have them in my application folder at all.

They are kept in the Utilities folder

They aren't integral and you can, as far as I am aware, download them from apple.com (e.g. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL997)

Have you actually run the firmware updaters to see if your devices need it?

Once you have done that then you don't need the apps. If apple were to update the firmware in the future they would release new apps.

^^^ serves me right for not reading the OP. I do have then in my utilities folder.

Thanks for all the replies thus far.

Thanks for clearing that part up. :)

I've run the firmware updaters and none of my devices needed them.

Looks like I'll be deleting them then.
