I did a search but couldn't find anything. Please direct me in the right direction if this has already been answered.

I'm setting up an iphone for my non tech savvy grandmother. The only thing she can do is open the phone application to make calls. (She likes the iphone and will not change phones so thats not an option) Is there a way to make it so that it always opens to the keypad screen on the phone application? She gets lost when she clicks on contacts and exits, then reopens the phone app to see the contacts screen again instead of the keypad. (I'm fully aware that the phone remembers what you clicked on last and reopens that when you reopen phone) Unfortunately for my grandmother it confuses her when the keypad screen doesn't show after she clicks on the phone icon. Is there a mod/hack that opens to the keypad screen every-time? Or an app that uses the phone function but only displays a keypad? Any help would be great.

Side Note : She use to have a razor so she's use to flipping it open and seeing a keypad allowing her to make an immediate phone call. Trying to get an old person to change their ways is out of the question, if you have every tried you know what I'm talking about. ;)

I totally understand the non-tech savvy relatives (although an iPhone using grandma is light-years ahead of anything I've got).

I don't know the precise answer to your question, but you could set up Activator to open the keypad from anywhere on the phone with a double-click - lockscreen, homescreen, inside another app, etc. Perhaps that would be simple enough for her.

That way if she gets lost, a simple double-click would take her where she wants to go. Of course, it doesn't HAVE to be double-click, but could be any Activator-supported operation.

Yeah, its LIGHT YEARS ahead of her but she loves the design and my grandpa has an iPhone and insists my grandma have one as well :)

I've never used Activator but I'm going to give that a shot. Thanks for the reply

If anyone else has any recommendations please let me know. Thank you

There is an app that chpwn made that does this exact thing I think!
try googleing and emailing him?

the tweak you are looking for is called "Start Dial". it's in Cydia and free. you can set it to automaticlly open to the keypad, recents, voicemail, etc every time you open the phone app {like u want to do}. all controlled in settings

Worked like a charm. The iPhone is now grandmother friendly. :D
Pretty neat app, you can set what it opens and if you have a missed call it can auto open your recents. I will be installing this app on my iPhone.

Thanks again for all your help.

Issue Resolved ;)
