So I was experimenting with AoD=on and wake on wrist raise=off and I was really liking it that way (no more "accidental" wake ups and probably saving quite a bit of battery too) ... except that it doesn't work properly on my Series 6/44mm/GPS/watchOS 7.0.2:

After a couple of minutes the watch just stops updating the time until you tap the display/raise your wrist which totally defeats the purpose of both the Always-on-Display and the "wake on wrist raise: off" setting.

After a reboot it seems to work for a couple of minutes and then it just stops updating the time again until you tap/raise your wrist.
Switched back to "wake on wrist raise: on" and now it's updating the time again every minute with no wrist movements required so this is obviously a software bug. 😥

Really sad about this because I would very much prefer the AoD=on and wake on wrist raise=off combination.

Rather interesting.

I purchased an AW6 (awaiting delivery), and it was primarily because often raising my wrist would not turn on the display on my AW3SS or AW4. Hence, I thought, I'd purchase an AW4, and simply use the AoD.

Hmm...

Strange. I use AoD and have raise to wake off and I haven’t encountered this problem. Not saying you’re not experiencing a bug or something but that combination does work.

After your reply I rebooted the iPhone too for good measure and now it's working again as it should. Weird glitch 🙄

...... and it stopped updating the time again when the watch is not moving/raised just a few minutes later.
Definitely buggy for me. :-(
