I don’t know if it is new on the 17 series or iOS 26 but the always on display is not turning it self off anymore.

Previous after a while the display turns off, in the dark etc.
Now I noticed the display stays finally on the whole time.
Anyone else noticed that ?

I hope this is accurate! I haven't had the chance to experience it yet.

Is that the same for the standby mode, that turns the phone into a (bedside) alarm clock?

It's the main reason I didn't upgrade last year (the base 16 doesn't have AOD) but will this year.

When I travel, I like to use my phone as an alarm clock. I can do this with my iPhone 11, but the screen goes off after 20 seconds and I have to tap it (or bang the bedside table hard!) to get it to come back on.

Iphone 15 Pro with iOS18
Iphone 17

both are working the same, during the day is ON, sleeping and charging it goes OFF few minutes later and keeps ON only if you touch the display during the night and when alarm is close to ring.
Pocket is the same too, goes OFF in seconds.

So no changes for me.

Wait, so always on doesn’t stay on? I remember when it first came out it did stay on all the time, or at lossy during the one or two days that i used it because I deactivated it to not be looking at my phone the whole day

Nope, is on during the day , very dark places ( like dark room) goes OFF and during the night or pocket .

At night bed , few minutes after goes off (totally dark ) and it goes on by itself before the alarm or touching the display remain ON if alarm is close to ring
