I am aware that Apple has a press release for the fact the screen goes dark in certain scenarios.

That’s understandable, but my question is whether the phone becomes responsive again when moved?

My phone will shut off overnight and then when I pick it up it will stay off, as if the AOD feature is disabled. Once I wake the phone it operates normally again, but will do the same thing when placed down again for a length of time.

Is this normal for everyone with a 14 pro and pro max? Also, do you have raise to wake enabled? (I did not).

I’ve called Apple and it confused them as well, so any real world examples could really help me here.

Thanks

I'm experiencing this as well, in addition to my phone intermittently reducing the screen brightness to zero – both occurring while trickle charging overnight on a wireless charger stand. I initiated a bug report with Apple and suggest you do the same, because the more people that report this increase the likelihood of them investigating and fixing it: https://www.apple.com/feedback/
