Ok so why everythime I click on a .txt or other file, do I have to check the little box everytime to open every single .txt file with a different name? Sure if I open the same file again it will open with text edit but this gets old.

I love how Windows will open all .txt files with word pad or note pad but OS X is not like this. There has to be a better way.

Click the Tutorials link in my sig, then choose Change file associations ...

1. In finder find a *.txt file
2. Press Command+I to bring up info window
3. Change Open With to desired application.
4. Press Change All.
