iPod touch Am about to buy an Ipod Touch (My first ipod ever)...

... so I saw the thread about the screen problems with certain ipod touch series... I'm gonna be careful as I don't have that much money left after the xmas/ny.

Has there been any problems with the screen apart from the ones from week 36-37?

I saw two left at a store nearby (with a big discount so I have to be quick)... one with serial no. 9c757xxxx, but with another digit behind '57'... week 57 makes no sense I suppose, so what does it mean? The other one has 9c745xxxx, I presume that means week 45.

So which is the newer version or are both fine?

I have a 45 week screen and it looks great, the 57's are probably newer and most likely have teh John Lennon Box.

Thx for reply. Bought the 45 already, it was the only one left. :eek:

Hopefully it'll work fine.
 
damn, I just got my 16 gig touch yesterday and it has macy gray on the box. guess I have the older version then
 
just a friendly warning here...

the iPod Touch is an amazing product... when it works.

tonight I am going to the Apple store to swap out yet another defective Touch. This will be my 6th iPod Touch. My problems have included:

1) early model (week 37) black screen problem
2) defective input jack (left channel audio cutting in and out)
3) bad screen (blurry fonts, flicker/refresh problem)
4) dead pixels
5) keeps rebooting over and over in the middle of sync.

So, I am going back tonight to try ANOTHER. Clearly this product has a lot of quality control issues. When it works its GREAT, but BEWARE.
