am considering getting an imac for the house...

Well as a new convert to the world of mac computers I have decided to buy an imac for the whole family to use at home. My kids use them at school and my wife doesn't really care, she only uses itunes and the net for facebook (sad I know).
Would be used for photo and video editing, itunes, web browsing and all my university work.

So the questions are;
Is there a new version coming soon?
Which model would be best if there isn't?

Any help would be appreciated.

My family computer is a 2008 20" iMac. My family needs sound almost identical to yours. Basically, it sounds like you don't need a hot rod, but you might need storage space. If I was shopping today, I'd go for the entry level 24" model........

Looking for a confirmation on an iMac update is asking for alot. Coming up on last Christmas, I was convinced on a pre-holiday speed bump. It never happened, and I still had no regrets on my purchase, even after the speed bump that happened at Macworld.......

For the iMac the guide states it's mid-product cycle, so really if you want/need it now then get it now. The previous revision was in March, and I doubt we'll see any spec bumps until January as September will probably be the a bump to the iPod line-up.

So yeah, go for it!

Why wait if you can buy what you need and enjoy it right now however
when new products are released the older model gets cheaper,
