So, I preordered an iPhone 11 Pro Max 256 GB. I selected Apple store pickup as the option. I am looking to exchange this phone already for the 64 GB iPhone 11 Pro Max as I figured out I don't need that extra storage space. My question is if anyone has had experience exchanging phones during release day? My check in time is 8:30 AM. Will they be able to do this right when I get in or will I have to go into a general line? Thanks for any help in advance!

I did it last year no problem. I went during the afternoon and it seems like a typical day at the Apple store, plenty of people but not hectic.
Though your experience may vary if your pickup time is in the morning where it's super busy during launch day.

And depends on whether the store has available stock on hand in the color/size you want - which would be more likely in the morning. I would go during your checkout time and ask whether they can exchange it when they bring out your order.
