Am I considered "upgraded" when i receive my pre-order phone or when i activate it?

The only reason i ask is i have a reservation from Apple and a preorder from ATT. The the preorder from the premier ATT gets all messed up, i might just go to apple and wait in the reservation line. But I dont want to be turned away from apple because i have a preorder that shipped out very late or such.

Any ideas?

I pre-ordered from Apple.

My upgrade status on AT&T now says something like 11/18/2011.

So yeah, once you pre-order, I think you're considered upgraded.

they take away your upgrade status when then begin to process. That this one of the reasons you do not want to cancel your order.

Apple removes your upgrade status and has done so to many clients. I believe AT&T does it AFTER you active the phone. I placed my order via AT&T and I'm still elgible to upgrade.

Many people got a email from AT&T today advising them of a change with their account CSS. My contract term was updated today, the day I received that email, I am not longer eligible for an update until 2012.

If you ordered from Apple your upgrade status is gone once you get that email, I am not sure about AT&T.

I just did the *639# thing. It now says: "You may select equipment at our full retail pricing. An upgrade may be available on 06/19/2011."

So it looks like I might buy the iPhone 5 then...for storage alone.

SO I guess ATT doesn't upgrade u until u activate while Apple does it when u paid for it..interesting...

i'ms o waiting in line lol

It doesn't matter if you are waiting in line. They are going to activate it in the store.

Incorrect. As others have stated here, our AT&T accounts already reflect new upgrade dates in 2011.

Exactly.

It would not make sense if it didn't update on purchase. Why? Then you could walk into different AT&T stores over and over, purchasing the phone for the $300 price, and reselling for the unsubsidized price at $699. This would be because each time you purchase it, your account would show upgrade eligible! It's supposed to update to upgrade ineligible as soon as the phone is purchased.
